What our guests says about Anachoreo

What to expect when come to new environment

Santa Fe is a quaint little town of approximately 3000 people, located in the remote interior of Panama. This is what makes Santa Fe truly special and creates an environment perfect for relaxation, exploring nature and the beautiful Panamanian countryside.

This remoteness also brings with it some additional elements that we feel it is important for our guests to know about. They are a part of the charm of Santa Fe, but it’s nice to be aware before you visit.

Getting here

The road to Santa Fe from Santiago is always in a “state of repair”. Please be wary of the many pot holes along the way. Take it slowly and if following another vehicle, use them as a guide for what lays ahead!

Insects

Living in the countryside and as we are in nature, however bugs and insects are inevitable. Keeping your window screens and doors closed will help minimize unwanted pests in the rooms. Bring your insects pray.

The Sounds of Nature

Santa Fe has an abundance of wildlife! Chickens and roosters roam the area freely and seeing them stroll on the streets is part of everyday life here. Of course Roosters can be noisy so we recommend bringing ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise.

Power Outages

Panama power outages are a part of daily life here and especially in a remote area like Santa Fe, electricity can go off all day sometimes. It is rare for this to go on for too long, however because of its remoteness and service to reach as fast is something to be aware of. In the event of an outage we will assist our guests to ensure they are as comfortable as possible.

Kitchen Noises

Unfortunately our Restaurant is inside the building at the center of the hotel so the kitchen finishes by 10pm. The closest room to the kitchen is Room 2 ( Deluxe family room), however on your Check In we are pleased to move you to a different room if there is availability.

We work hard to keep the restaurant going so that we can keep doing the dinner offers for our guests.

Weather

Panama has two seasons, Wet (May-Nov) and Dry (Dec-Apr). Despite the time of year however, Panama is a tropical country and as such temperatures can get quite warm, and humidity. Unlike the lower parts of Panama like Panama City, Santa Fe has a higher elevation which is cooler and has a nice breeze. Our rooms are not currently air conditioning however all rooms have high ceilings, windows have screens and can be opened for cool air flow through. At night the temperature is perfectly cold to sleep in.
